Hi Everyone,
A bit of Book Week  clarification. Come to school dressed in your costume. You can wear it all day so long as you will be comfortable , can move freely and most importantly go to the toilet independently. The  parade is at 10.20 am on the basketball court. If it rains we head to the hall. Don’t forget if you can, to bring along the book that your dress up character is from.

Friday will be exciting!

Week 5 already!

So what’s been happening so far in room 01?

📚 In inquiry we designed a house suitable for a rainforest: looking at features and materials.

📚 We shared our Maths About  Me posters  and compared information.

📚 We learnt about magic e: the silent letter that flips the vowel sound.

📚 We continued developing the play space  outside our room. Along with room 02 we purchased some planter boxes and spent time filling them with dirt in preparation for seed planting.

📚 We developed our skipping skills and supported Jump Rope for Heart.

📚 We attended  a fabulous performance ‘ Emily Loves to Bounce’  and loved the visual delight of bouncing balls and floating lanterns!

📚 We welcomed final placement pre service teacher, Laura, who will be spending 5 weeks in our room next term.

And it’s Book Week!

📚 Book Week parade on Friday. Come dressed as your favourite Australian book character or famous Australian character from history.

📚 Sharing this week is your favourite book. Tell us about the characters, plot (what happens) and why you like it.

📚 The library will have lots of fun things to do. Don’t forget to visit at lunch time.

A Few Reminders…

August14

We head to the theatre tomorrow, ‘Emily Likes to Bounce.’ There will be no lunch orders as we will be eating lunch early.

Jump Rope for Heart, Tuesday afternoon,

Maths posters are due for sharing this week.

School photo day is Wednesday, please send along your child’s individual photograph envelope on the day.

We had some visitors from an elementary school in Japan visit our room…they were impressed with our morning activity, room set up and work samples and friendly atmosphere. They attended the assembly , spoke about their school and taught us a great dance !

Our school’s Respect focus this week will be on greetings, why and what.

See you tomorrow 😀

Room 01 News For Everyone.

August7

Well, we have certainly had a busy start to the 3rd term!

Nature Play is always a learning success and last week everyone enjoyed their time in the Grange garden. We revisited our weeding efforts from last term and found more weeds, collected pods and leaves, looked for worms ,created a nature shop, igloo and nests for the birds and discovered a very interesting hole. And of course, we splashed and splashed in puddles.  Nature Play always leads to the students questioning, problem solving, talking , co operating, thinking and rediscovering a respect for their environment. Thank you for supporting your child to be organised and ready for Nature Play, it means we can spend more time in the garden and less time looking for coats and boots!

Seesaw App. This term I would like families who comment on their child’s enteries to focus on the learning . By asking your child to explain what they were doing and the learning, why , you are encouraging them to be a reflective learner. Of course the students still love receiving a like/heart from their family.

Other learning in our room….

Respect:

We have been talking about the school value of Respect, what does it mean, look like and sound like. We have talked about respect at home, at school and within our community.
